Our president speaks at the Midwest Construction Conference
By Homeway Commercial
Highlighting what makes modular a better way to build, Homeway Commercial President and Founder, Brian Schieler, was a featured speaker at the Midwest Construction Double-header Conference held in Chicago on September 8, 2002.
The event brought together construction professionals from across the country and Brian provided an in-depth look at Homeway Commercial as a volumetric modular builder and a family business. He also highlighted a few completed projects, and discussed the wide range of benefits the modular system provides.
One of the main topics was speed, and how modular building delivers a high-quality product in a shorter amount of time. Talking about one project in particular – the John Street Apartments at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign – he highlighted the advantages from a cost-savings standpoint.
“From the time we signed the contract to the time the people were moving in was a little over six months, so speed is one of the main advantages of the modular system,” said Brian. “You can just imagine what taking say 40% off the schedule of your project will do… that goes right to your bottom line or it makes you more competitive.”
He also discussed what he talks about when he meets a potential customer.
“I ask them ‘What are you looking for in a manufacturer?’ and what I’m looking for in a client,” said Brian. “Well, the relationships, trust and integrity…I think we’ve proven ourselves in that regard.”
“Being a family business… construction is in our blood,” said Brian. “We just do a quality job. We don’t want to do anything else but that.”
The Midwest Construction Double-header included a Construction Summit in the morning along with a Modular Summit in the afternoon. The event featured information on the growing Modular Construction Industry and brought construction experts from across the country together to network and share best practices.
